overview
The American River programs embody Crestwood's commitment to providing the range of care clients deserve on their road to recovery. We firmly believe that personal, good-natured attention with an emphasis on respect is essential to fostering a rapport between the client and staff. We are thrilled with the results of this personal approach: stronger relationships between staff and clients and exceptional client rehabilitation programs.

At the American River Behavioral Health Center, we are focused on working with clients to develop the life skills they need to progress in their recovery and, ultimately, thrive in their communities. Our client credit system encourages clients to attend groups and classes and strive for excellence with their daily living activities. As part of their individual recovery plan, clients log their own progress credits, which are redeemable for prizes and merchandise, as well as individualized rewards and reimbursements agreed upon with their case manager. Family passes and peer/self passes are not related to credits, but are a very important part of our program. They help facilitate independence and help the client demonstrate community social skills.
Engle House is a 13-bed Transitional Residential Program, allowing clients to gain skills in areas such as medication compliance, community living skills, pre-vocational opportunities and independent living skills. The program emphasizes wellness and recovery. Since it opened at the end of 2004, we have seen some amazing outcomes with clients who in the past have not been successful maintaining themselves outside of a locked facility.
This facility caters to consumers in the final phase of their mental health recovery. In this home-like setting, staff and clients have the opportunity to interact in a casual manner. Clients clean their own rooms and do their own laundry, share housekeeping chores and are responsible for daily meal preparation. Clients are also instrumental in policy and decision-making, as well as program-designing. The client council convenes weekly to discuss various program aspects wherein clients can give their input. |
